NUEVA YORK – 8 de Octubre, 2019 – Combate Américas, la principal franquicia de deportes y medios hispanos de artes marciales mixtas (MMA) del mundo, anunció hoy los detalles, así como un desafío sin precedentes para la pelea más esperada del año entre los legendarios íconos de deportes de combate Tito Ortiz y Alberto El Patrón (anteriormente “Alberto Del Rio” de la WWE).

Ortiz, miembro del Salón de la Fama del Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), ex campeón de peso semipesado de la misma empresa y pionero del deporte, se enfrentará con el multi campeón de peso pesado de la WWE, ex medallista de lucha grecorromana de los Juegos Panamericanos y ex estrella de PRIDE MMA, El Patrón, en una transmisión televisiva nacional en vivo por pago por evento desde el Payne Arena en Hidalgo, Texas, el sábado 7 de diciembre.

Con un precio inicial de $ 30 dólares las entradas para el evento saldrán a la venta el viernes 11 de octubre a las 10 a.m. CT en Ticketmaster.com

También se detalló que se enfrentarán en un peso pactado de 210 libras, acordaron un desafío de título sin precedentes e histórico “El ganador se lleva todo”.

Si Ortiz sale victorioso en la pelea, tomará posesión del cinturón de la WWE obtenido por El Patrón. Sin embargo, si El Patrón gana la pelea, Ortiz le cederá el cinturón que ganó en la UFC.

“Esta es una pelea única, la más grande en la historia de las peleas: una de las mejores superestrellas de MMA de todos los tiempos, enfrentando a uno de los campeones más condecorados de lucha libre profesional y un luchador de MMA consumado por derecho propio”, dijo El CEO de Combate Américas, Campbell McLaren. “Además de todo eso, estas dos leyendas están exponiendo sus cinturones. Ortiz, de Huntington Beach, California, una de los más grandes atracciones de los pago por evento en la historia de MMA, ha producido algunos de los momentos más memorables del deporte cuando hacía frente a casi todos los principales rivales en su categoría de peso y derrotará a peleadores como Ryan Bader, Ken Shamrock, Forrest Griffin y Stephan Bonnar.

El estatus de Ortiz en el deporte le ha valido papeles protagónicos en tres exitosos reality shows: “The Celebrity Apprentice”, presentado por Donald Trump, y dos temporadas diferentes de “The Ultimate Fighter” de UFC.

Ortiz viene de un nocaut en la primera ronda del compañero de Salón de la Fama de UFC y el ex campeón mundial Chuck Liddell en Los Ángeles el 24 de noviembre pasado.

Nacido en San Luis Potosí, México, en una de las dinastías familiares más famosas de Lucha Libre, El Patrón, que reside en San Antonio, Texas, ha abierto un camino hacia el estrellato a su manera, estableciéndose como una fuerza en tres diferentes deportes de combate: lucha grecorromana, lucha profesional estadounidense y MMA.

NEW YORK – October 8, 2019 – Combate Americas, the world’s premier Hispanic Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) sports and media franchise, today announced the details as well as an unprecedented challenge for the most highly-anticipated fight of the year between legendary combat sports icons Tito Ortiz and Alberto El Patrón (formerly “Alberto Del Rio” of the WWE).

Ortiz, an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Hall of Fame member, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and pioneer of the sport, will square off with multiple-time WWE Heavyweight Champion, former Pan American Games Greco Roman wrestling medalist and former PRIDE MMA star, El Patrón, in a live, national Pay-Per-View television broadcast from Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas on Saturday, Dec. 7.

It was also announced today that the two, who will face off at a 210-pound catchweight, have agreed to an unprecedented and historic “winner take all” title belt challenge. 

If Ortiz emerges victorious in the bout, he will take possession of El Patrón’s WWE title belt.  If El Patrón wins the fight, however, Ortiz will relinquish possession of his UFC title belt to his opponent.

“This is a one-of-a-kind, larger than life fight– one of the greatest MMA superstars of all-time, facing off with one of professional wrestling’s most decorated champions and an accomplished MMA fighter in his own right,” said Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren.  “On top of all that, these two legends are putting their belts where their mouths are.  It’s the type of fight that comes around once or twice in a lifetime, and Combate Americas is going to deliver it to fans worldwide from the U.S.-Mexico border.”

One of the biggest pay-per-view television draws in MMA history, Ortiz of Huntington Beach, Calif. has produced some of the sport’s most memorable moments while facing off with nearly every major rival in his weight class and defeating the likes of Ryan Bader, Ken Shamrock, Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar.

Ortiz’s status in the sport has garnered him starring roles in three different hit reality television shows –The Celebrity Apprentice hosted by Donald Trump, and two different seasons of the UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter.

Ortiz is coming off a first round knockout of fellow UFC Hall of Famer and former world champion Chuck Liddell in Los Angeles last November 24.

Born in San Luis Potosi, SLP, Mexico, into one of the most famous Lucha Libre family dynasties, El Patrón, who resides in San Antonio, Texas, has blazed a trail to superstardom in his own manner, establishing himself as a force in three different combat sports – Greco Roman wrestling, American professional wrestling and MMA.

El Patrón is the only athlete in history to win two of the WWE’s most coveted titles – the “Royal Rumble” and the “Money in the Bank” ladder match – in the same year (2011). 

Competing under his Lucha Libre name, “Dos Caras, Jr.” and training under former UFC and Vale Tudo champion Marco Ruas, El Patrón crossed over into the world of MMA, where he fought under the promotion of the former number one MMA franchise in the world, PRIDE, and earned all of his career victories by way of (T)KO or submission.

El Patrón announced last October that he had returned to MMA training and was intent on competing for Combate Americas. 

He has since re-located for training camp to Glendale, Ariz., the home of former UFC star and fellow Mexican American Javier “Chunty Boy” Torres’ MMA camp, where El Patrón has been preparing for his MMA return with former Ortiz opponent Bader as well as with former UFC star and NCAA Division I All-American wrestler C.B. Dollaway, among others.
