Esta secuela está dirigida por Andy Serkis y protagonizada por Tom Hardy, quien regresa en el papel del protector letal Venom, uno de los personajes más grandes y complejos de MARVEL. Igualmente, la película cuenta con la participación de Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris y Woody Harrelson, quien personifica al asesino en serie sociópata Cletus Kasady, también conocido como Carnage.
